Terms of Use

Please read these terms before using Open Text to Speech. By using the website you agree to them.

Last updated:

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the website at https://www.opentexttospeech.com and the text-to-speech tools, pages and API endpoints available on it (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Open Text to Speech, run by Abdul Waheed in Jhang, Punjab, Pakistan ("we," "us," or "our").

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Open Text to Speech lets you type or paste text, choose a voice, and listen to or download the resulting audio. The Service is free and does not require an account.

Speech is generated by third-party providers, including Speechma and Microsoft Azure AI (see Third-party providers). We may add, change or remove voices, languages, features and limits at any time, and we may suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, without notice.

2. Who may use the Service

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service. If you are younger, you may use it only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf. This matches our Privacy Policy.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to create, upload or distribute content that:

  • is illegal, or promotes illegal activity, in your country or in Pakistan;
  • impersonates a real person, or is designed to deceive people into believing they are hearing a real person, including for fraud, scams, phishing calls or political disinformation;
  • harasses, threatens, defames or promotes violence or hatred against any person or group;
  • is sexually explicit content involving minors, or otherwise exploits or harms children;
  • infringes anyone’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights.

You also agree not to:

  • try to get around rate limits, character limits or other technical restrictions, for example by using many IP addresses or automated scripts;
  • resell, rebrand or offer the Service, or audio produced through our API endpoints at scale, as part of another product without our written permission;
  • interfere with the security or operation of the Service, or attempt to access systems or data you are not authorized to access;
  • use the Service in any way that violates the terms or policies of our third-party providers.

We may block requests, IP addresses or users that we reasonably believe break these rules.

4. Usage limits

To keep the Service free and available for everyone, we apply fair-use limits. At the time of writing, a single request can contain up to 2,000 characters, and each IP address can make up to 30 requests per minute. We may change these limits at any time.

5. Your text and the audio you create

You keep whatever rights you have in the text you enter. You give us, and our third-party providers, permission to process that text only as needed to generate the audio and operate the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Please do not enter confidential information, passwords, health or financial details, or other sensitive personal data into the Service.

You are responsible for how you use the audio you create, including making sure your use complies with applicable law, with the rights of any people mentioned in your text, and with the terms of our third-party providers. Where a platform you publish on requires it, you should disclose that the voice is synthetic.

6. Third-party providers and links

Voice generation relies on third-party services, including Speechma and Microsoft Azure AI. Their availability, quality and terms are outside our control. The website also shows advertising from Google AdSense and links to other websites. We are not responsible for third-party services, ads or websites, and your use of them is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

7. Our website and brand

The website design, text, logos and the name "Open Text to Speech" belong to us or our licensors. You may link to our pages and quote short extracts with attribution, but you may not copy the website or present it as your own.

8. No warranty

The Service is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that pronunciations or audio will be accurate, or that it will be suitable for any particular purpose. Always check generated audio before you rely on it or publish it.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Because the Service is free, our total liability to you for any claim related to it is limited to zero, except where the law does not allow such a limit.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded under the law of the country where you live.

10. Your responsibility to us

If someone makes a claim against us because of content you created with the Service or because you broke these Terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and losses that result, to the extent permitted by law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. If you keep using the Service after an update, you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be handled by the competent courts of Pakistan, unless the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
